The Chinese zodiac, also known as the Chinese animal zodiac or shengxiao, is a repeating cycle of 12 years, with each year being represented by an animal. The years of the Chinese zodiac are: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. 2025 will be the Year of the Snake.
The Chinese zodiac is thought to have originated in China during the Han Dynasty (206 BCE 220 CE). It is believed that the animals of the zodiac were chosen because they represent different aspects of human personality. For example, the Rat is said to be clever and resourceful, the Ox is said to be hardworking and reliable, and the Tiger is said to be brave and courageous.
