President’s Day is a federal holiday in the United States that honors all former presidents of the United States. It is observed on the third Monday of February each year.
President’s Day was originally established in 1885 as Washington’s Birthday to commemorate the birthday of George Washington, the first president of the United States. In 1971, the holiday was expanded to include all former presidents and was renamed President’s Day.
