The Mitsubishi Sapporo is a mid-size coupe that was produced by Mitsubishi Motors from 1975 to 1983. The Sapporo was available in both front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive configurations, and was powered by a variety of four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines. The Sapporo was discontinued in 1983, but the name was revived in 2003 for a concept car that was shown at the Tokyo Motor Show. The concept car was well-received, and Mitsubishi announced plans to put the Sapporo back into production in 2025.
The 2025 Mitsubishi Sapporo is expected to be a major departure from the original Sapporo. The new Sapporo will be based on the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution platform, and will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The Sapporo will also feature a number of advanced technologies, including a head-up display, a lane departure warning system, and a forward collision warning system.
