The Revised Common Lectionary (RCL) is a three-year cycle of biblical readings used by many Christian denominations. The current cycle, Lectionary 2019, began on the First Sunday of Advent in 2018 and will conclude on the Last Sunday of Pentecost in 2021. The next cycle, Lectionary 2025, will begin on the First Sunday of Advent in 2024 and will conclude on the Last Sunday of Pentecost in 2027.
The RCL is designed to provide a balanced and comprehensive reading of the Bible over the course of three years. Each year, the cycle includes readings from the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the Psalms. The readings are arranged in a thematic order, so that each Sunday’s readings relate to a particular theme or topic.
