The Citi Open, also known as the Washington Open, is an annual tennis tournament held in Washington, D.C., United States. The tournament is a part of the ATP Tour 500 series on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tour and the WTA 250 series on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tour.
The Citi Open was first held in 1969 as a men’s-only tournament and was known as the Washington Star International. The tournament was renamed the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in 1999 and the Citi Open in 2012. The women’s tournament was added in 2012.
