Martin Luther King Jr. Day, commonly known as MLK Day, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the life and achievements of the civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. First observed in 1986, it is celebrated on the third Monday of January each year, which in 2025 falls on January 20th.
MLK Day is not only a day of remembrance but also a day of service. It is a time to reflect on King’s legacy of nonviolent activism and to recommit ourselves to the fight for racial equality and social justice. Many people volunteer their time at soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and other community organizations on this day.
