Martin Luther King Jr. Day, commonly referred to as MLK Day, is a federal holiday in the United States marking the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. It is observed on the third Monday of January each year, which in 2025 falls on Monday, January 20th.
Established in 1986, MLK Day serves as a day of remembrance and celebration of Dr. King’s life, legacy, and tireless work in the pursuit of civil rights. It is a day to reflect on his teachings of nonviolent resistance and social justice, and to recommit ourselves to the principles of equality, freedom, and justice for all.
