Software Defined Networking (SDN) Tucson 2025 is a citywide initiative to deploy a next-generation network infrastructure that will provide Tucson with a competitive advantage in the 21st-century economy. SDN is a new networking paradigm that decouples the control plane from the data plane, allowing for more flexible and agile network management. This will enable Tucson to better meet the demands of its growing population and businesses, and to attract new investment and jobs to the city.
The SDN Tucson 2025 initiative is a collaboration between the City of Tucson, the University of Arizona, and local businesses and organizations. The project is funded by a $20 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The project is expected to be completed by 2025.
